Join us for an electrifying exchange at this month's government affairs meeting as California's assembly candidates, Andrew Hayes, Carl DeMaio and Jack Fernandes, take the stage.
Carl DeMaio- DeMaio is no stranger to adversity. Carl’s mother passed away two weeks after his father abandoned the family. At age 14, DeMaio was taken in by Jesuits and given the opportunity to earn his way to Georgetown University. “I learned from a young age that no matter how bad things get, there is always a way to overcome any challenge,” said DeMaio. “I’m grateful to the Jesuits for instilling in me both a disciplined work ethic and a strong sense of public service – fighting for what you believe in no matter what the consequences are.”
Jack J. Fernandez- Fernandes was born in San Diego to an immigrant father who fled civil war and a mother with a neurodegenerative disease. Jack stocked freezers and sold his blood to go to college and law school at UCLA where he earned a scholarship and was a senior editor on UCLA's law review. Jack went on to create good paying life science jobs and biotech companies in San Diego including Regenica Biosciences, highlighted by Forbes as a medical company developing an antidote from a nobel laureate's lab to protect our US troops from a chemical weapon.
Andrew Hayes- A graduate of El Capitan High School, Hayes went on to earn two bachelor’s degrees from the University of San Diego. Upon graduation, Hayes went to work on the frontlines of the conservative movement, serving as a legislative aide for former California State Senator Joel Anderson and eventually becoming District Director for Senator Brian Jones.
